Air quality
The air in a Cypress house is part of the system too
Cooling sets the temperature. Filtration, UV and humidity control deal with the air itself. ACE fits all four product families on the equipment you already own.
Chapter 01
Why does the house feel sticky when the thermostat says it is cool?
Temperature is the number on the wall, and it is only half of what a room feels like. Gulf Coast summers carry a lot of moisture, and a house can sit at the setpoint and still feel close. In a dry January the same house can swing the other way. That is the reason American Comfort Experts fits humidifiers and dehumidifiers as well as the air cleaning equipment around them.
The air quality work at ACE is four product families: UV light systems, AprilAire whole-home air purification, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, and SolaceAir oxidizing UVC systems. Each one is a piece of equipment with a defined place in the system, and the rest of this page says what that place is. If you are not sure which one matches what you are noticing, call (281) 256-3433 and describe it. The Cypress office on Cypress Church Rd takes the call.

Attic air handler with a media air cleaner cabinet open and a pleated filter half out
What does each piece of equipment actually do?
A UV light system is an ultraviolet lamp placed in the path of the air your system already moves. SolaceAir's oxidizing UVC systems are a UV-based product too, described by the maker as dual wavelength UVC/UVV technology. Both are fitted into the existing system, so the air handler you already own keeps doing the cooling and heating.
AprilAire whole-home air purification is the media cabinet you can see open in the photo above: a cabinet built into the air handler with a pleated filter that slides in and out. Because it is on the main system, it works on the air the whole house shares instead of one room at a time. Humidifiers add moisture when the air runs dry, and dehumidifiers take it out when the air runs heavy.
The manufacturers publish what each product is rated to do, and a technician can go through those ratings with you at your own air handler.
Chapter 03
When does an air quality system need a second look?
A pleated media filter is a wear item. It loads up, it gets swapped, and it is worth a glance every time someone is already at the air handler. ACE books cooling maintenance in spring and furnace maintenance in early fall, and either visit is a natural moment to ask about the cabinet or the lamp.
Members of the Comfort Club get a scheduled tune-up built into a monthly plan starting at $12.95, which keeps these checks from slipping between seasons. The air that comes out of the vents also travels through ductwork, so the ductwork page covers duct cleaning with Rotobrush equipment, and the air conditioning page covers the equipment that feeds it.
